157 | What’s Your Business Problem? Let’s Get Real About Making Money

This week, I want to dive into a topic that’s a little more personal and hits close to home—your business problem. Specifically, I’m talking to those of you who have to make money from your business. This isn’t a side hustle or something you do for fun; this is your livelihood. If that resonates with you, keep reading because this episode is for you.

The Excuse Trap: What’s Holding You Back?

Let’s be honest—when we’re not seeing the money we need from our business, it’s easy to get frustrated and start wallowing in excuses. We’ve all been there. The month is longer than the money, and suddenly we’re drowning in reasons why things aren’t working: sick kids, vacations, family visits, weddings, birthdays—you name it. But the truth is, excuses are just that—excuses. If you want something badly enough, you’ll find a way to make it happen. So ask yourself, what is it in your business that you’re not going after hard enough? What excuses are you using to justify not doing the work that needs to be done for your business to thrive?

Prioritizing What Matters: Your Non-Negotiables

As entrepreneurs, it’s easy to get caught up in the freedom of choosing what we want to work on. But that freedom can sometimes lead to procrastination on the things that really matter. Instead of just picking what feels good to work on, it’s time to identify your non-negotiables—the money-making activities that have to happen for you to get paid. For me, this season, it’s all about publishing new content weekly and pinning on Pinterest, even though it’s taking more time than I’d like. These tasks are my non-negotiables because they directly impact my income. So, what are yours? Figure out those top tasks that will move the needle in your business and make them your priority every single day.

Overcoming Avoidance: Dig Deep and Do the Work

If you’re finding it hard to focus on your non-negotiables, it’s time to dig deep and figure out why. Avoiding these tasks often stems from something deeper—maybe it’s fear, maybe it’s a money mindset issue. Whatever it is, you need to identify it and work through it. Write down what you need to accomplish, put it front and center, and make it happen. I’m a big fan of sticky notes for this—they’re all over my planner and desk, reminding me of what needs to get done. And remember, if you really want this business to succeed, you have to want those tasks bad enough to push through the discomfort and excuses.

As we head into the busy fourth quarter, don’t lose sight of what truly makes you money. Prioritize your non-negotiables and make them happen, no matter what. You’ve got this.

Until next time, stay creative. Bye!
